Jeff on GTFM

I had the opportunity to play on GTFM last month thanks to Richard Reast from Pontypridd Folk Club. I played Mr Balloon Man and Taking Milk.

Jeff goes Balkan

I had the pleasure of returning to Cafe Jazz at the end of April thanks to Andy Roberts Balkan Night. It gave me chance to try out my dancing Bunny, he hadn’t performed live before and coped very well. You can see him in the video below and the rest of the performance on my youtube page.

The first gig of 2009, Hallelujah!

At short notice I got to do a few numbers at Shot in The Dark in Cardiff on Saturday. Its a cool cafe where they are displaying the art work of a friend, Mo from Pontypridd folk club. He invited a few of us from the club to come and play and it gave me a chance to try out my new Hallelujah cover.

A Night In Georgia

I had a gig last week in Cafe Jazz organised by Andy Roberts . The evening had an eastern European feel to it. It was a great evening and the main act were fantastic. They were called Rogora Khart and are well worth seeing. You can see my contribution below. My favourite bit was getting to improvise the Tetris music with fellow performers Cat Razzell on Accordian and Hungarian violinist Emese Hruska . There are some pictures of the night here.

New Uke Club

Having attempted to start a Ukulele club last year and failed, I was pleased when Sarah Thomas from Penarth wanted to start one up. The club’s been going for nearly three months now and is going great. We’re working our way through some great songs, including our club song ‘Delilah’.

We’ve also taken a trip to TUSC and had a feature written about us in the South Wales Echo. Not bad for such a young club!

Have a look at the club blog here.

Greenbelt 2008

Last weekend was the Greenbelt Festival which is held on Cheltenham Race Course. I’ve been for several years now but this was my favorite by far, probably because I had chance to perform and show off. I did spots on the stand up comedy open mic, the acoustic open mic and I discovered a slot called the late night twist where people can get up and do stuff. The twist was probably my favorite venue but I got a good response at all of them. Here’s a video from the Acoustic Open Mic. It was a great feeling to have the crowd sing along on the chorus of a song i’d only written the week before. Roll on Greenbelt09.

Jeff Japers on Radio 2

In 2006 my myspace page was noticed by the BBC Radio 2 show ‘The Day The Music Died’. Here is a clip from the show: Japers on Radio 2

Mountain Dew

This is my only instrumental from the Taunton gig. I’m just thinking about the kind of things I want to put on  this blog, this is just to get me going.

Ukulele Revolution ‘LIVE SPECIAL’

Last week I had the privilege of being on the same bill as The Night Owls and Bosko & Honey at the Taunton Ukulele Strummers Club. It was my favourite gig to date and you can listen to the highlights here thanks to Nipper, presenter of the Ukecast and member of the Night Owls.
